Several factors have contributed to the rise of Canadian online ad revenue to C1.01 billion in 2006, reports eMarketer.
According to the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada, increased search, rich media and video options all add up to the jump in revenue. The dollar figure represents an 80 percent rise from 2005's numbers.
The rise in display ad spending has been quicker than search, opposite the trend in the U.S. That's at least partially attributed to a higher rate of broadband penetration in Canada, where 58 percent of households have the faster connection. In the U.S. only 46 percent of households have broadband connections.
